Coutinho delivers verdict on Everton ahead of Merseyside derby
By Danny Wright
Philippe Coutinho is not worried about Everton catching Liverpool in the Premier League.
The two great Merseyside rivals will come to blows on Saturday but the 24-year-old has revealed that he hasn’t given any thought to Everton’s recent run of form.
Coutinho enjoyed a fantastic start to the season under Jurgen Klopp but since injury saw him miss out all of December, he has struggled to rediscover his form.
Liverpool, although in fourth place, are just six points ahead of seventh-placed Everton and their Champions League qualification spot could come under a lot of pressure should they drop points this weekend with the Toffees, Manchester United and Arsenal breathing down their necks.
Everton have lost just one league match in 2017 against Tottenham. However Liverpool’s form this season sees them unbeaten against all of the Premier League’s top seven clubs.

Coutinho has scored seven goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this season but has scored just once in his return from injury since mid-January.
Everton’s Lukaku has fired his way to the top of the league’s goalscoring charts with 21 goals in the top flight.
“I don’t think about [Everton’s form] or worry about that,” said Coutinho, as quoted by Sky Sports. “Right now, Liverpool is higher in the league, that’s the reality and that’s all we have to think about.
“We will be ready. The derby is a very special match for everyone, the fans and the players.
“We know what it means. The people of Liverpool live this match with so much emotion and this time it is even more because Everton have improved so much in recent weeks.”
