‘I don’t think there are many players who would be able to say no’ – Tottenham star talks about Barcelona

By Harvey Byrne

Tottenham star Christian Eriksen has told that he doesn’t believe there will be many players who will be able to say no to Barcelona if the La Liga giants come calling.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has been a huge hit in north London, which has brought tenuous links to the Nou Camp club.

There has not yet been any concrete links and the Denmark international still has three years remaining on his contract at Tottenham, who are keen to keep hold of their top players.

But, Eriksen could also go against his club’s wishes if Barcelona do end up making a move after telling that he doesn’t believe many would turn down a move to the Spanish club.

“I’ve already been there in the past [on trial as a teenager] but it didn’t work out too well,” told Eriksen, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

“But, of course, Barcelona is a fantastic football club and I don’t think there are many players who would be able to say no to them. However, until there is actually some concrete interest, I don’t have an opinion about that.”

Eriksen himself spent trial periods at the likes of Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Manchester United and AC Milan before joining Dutch giants Ajax.

He has since made a fine career for himself, winning the Eredivisie four times alongside helping Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham team to a runners-up spot in the Premier League last season.

Spurs fans will certainly be hoping that the Dane remains within their team for the foreseeable future as Pochettino also looks to lead the club to their first English top-flight title.
