Tottenham were resolute in a 3-0 win over Everton as they keep within touching distance of Arsenal.

Micky van de Ven shone for Tottenham in their victory over Everton as Thomas Frank got his side back to winning ways.

The Toffees have been superb at home this season yet struggled against the might of the Spurs defensive resolve as well as strength on set-pieces.

Lilywhites fans were impressed with their side’s dogged results as the three points puts them up into third and just five points behind the Gunners.

Rodrigo Bentancur delights Tottenham fans after recent doubts over his performance levels

Earlier this campaign, Tottenham extended Rodrigo Bentancur’s contract past the end of this season as they sought to keep the midfielder at the club.

In recent matches, the Uruguayan had been underwhelming but, against Everton, he was everywhere on the pitch with him and Joao Palhinha constructing a strong partnership.

Taking to X, Spurs fans poured out comments of support and joy after the number 30’s display with one saying: “If we hadn’t had Bentancur and Palinha today we would have lost this game.” with another adding: “This is one of the best games in a spurs shirt from Bentancur, fair play.”

The ex-Juventus man came up with a crucial assist for Van de Ven’s first goal as more supporters agreed on his excellence: “I will never understand the hate Bentancur gets.” with a fellow Spurs fan adding: “Bentancur has been absolutely brilliant.”

Apart from picking up the pivotal headed assist for Spurs’ first goal, the Uruguayan was everywhere for Tottenham against Everton.

The 28-year-old made seven recoveries and touched the ball 55 times as he sought to relieve the defence of the Toffees’ persistent pressure.

He also maintained a passing accuracy rate of 85 per cent, which is positive considering the relentless hounding from David Moyes‘ team.

Moreover, his assist from the set-piece highlighted his excellent aerial ability, an attribute that Frank will be calling on across the season.
