'I was fighting for my Leeds career' - First teamer makes revelation after massive revamp
By Harry Sykes
Stuart Dallas has revealed that he felt like he was “fighting for my Leeds career” following the massive overhaul of the squad this summer.
United made 16 new signings as owner Andrea Radrizzani sanctioned a major revamp of the team that finished seventh under former manager Garry Monk last season.
Leeds have raced out of the starting blocks and are top of the Championship table despite Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall, their first of the season.
Dallas, who joined Leeds from Brentford in the summer of 2015, is locked in a fierce battle for one of the attacking midfield slots in Thomas Christiansen’s high-flying side, with Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski competing with 2016-2017 regulars Pablo Hernandez, Kemar Roofe, Hadi Sacko and Dallas himself.
The Northern Ireland international, 26, appeared to have won the new manager over when he signed a new three-year contract at the end of August that runs until 2020.

Speaking on Monday, Dallas expressed his delight at committing to the club for the long term.
“I felt like I was fighting for my Leeds career this season,” he said, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of BBC West Yorkshire correspondent Adam Pope.

Dallas has been involved in all nine of Leeds’ matches this season but his only two starts have come in the League Cup.
All seven of his league appearances have been as a substitute, although he has scored two goals.
Leeds remain top of the Championship table but they are ahead of second-placed Wolves and Cardiff City in third only on goal difference.
Christiansen is now looking for a reaction from his team as they prepare for their League Cup clash away to Premier League outfit Burnley on Tuesday night.
Sean Dyche’s side have begun the season in fine form and held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Saturday.
In other Leeds United news, Alvin Martin has made an astonishing claim about Christiansen’s team that fans will love.
