‘I hate PSR and FFP’ – Lewis Miley shock as ‘insane rules’ force Newcastle into corner
Newcastle United could be forced to sell Lewis Miley this summer as the Premier League’s “insane” PSR rules take hold.
Eddie Howe has often been hamstrung by Newcastle’s need to comply with FFP and PSR rules since the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund’s takeover at St. James’ Park, which has hindered their progress.
While star men like Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali have been the subjects of transfer speculation aplenty ahead of the summer transfer window, it seems no Newcastle player is safe from a potential sale.
Some Premier League clubs have sold academy players in order to register ‘pure profit’ from a PSR perspective, and Mick Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle could look to do the same with Miley.
However, former England goalkeeper Robinson told Football Insider that the prospect of Miley being sold is “insane”, and goes against the idea of Newcastle “building around” their academy midfielder.

‘Lewis Miley transfer makes PSR farce clear at Newcastle’
Although Miley’s potential sale would indeed represent a positive on the books and comply with PSR, Football Insider sources have said Newcastle will do all they can to keep him with an eye on the future.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson slammed the damage that Premier League PSR rules have had on clubs like Newcastle and the competitiveness of the league itself.
“I say it every week — I hate FFP and PSR; the richest club in the world, and we’re talking about one of their best young players potentially being sold”, Robinson told Football Insider.
“It’s not right, it’s not good for the league – the idea [that] they’d have to sell a player like Miley is insane. They should be building around him, not pricing him out.”

Newcastle keen to avoid PSR-affected transfer policy
Newcastle have already felt the repurcussions of PSR-enforced sales this season, with Elliot Anderson at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s push for the Champions League after last summer’s £35million move.
Robinson has previously told Football Insider that he expects Newcastle to sell several fringe players once the window opens, in an effort to ward off clubs keen on star men like Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.
Champions League qualification at St. James’ Park will certainly help Newcastle’s cause in their efforts to keep hold of Isak, Guimaraes and Tonali, and they’ll hope Miley can also be retained despite the PSR concerns which could loom further down the track.
