‘I hope I’m proven right’ – Tottenham to back Thomas Frank with multiple late signings
Tottenham must back manager Thomas Frank in the final week of the January transfer window.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Frank will “come good” if given time at Spurs.
Spurs’ 2-2 draw at Burnley did little to ease the pressure on Frank, which extended the club’s winless run in the Premier League to six games.
Discussions were held over Frank’s future following a defeat to West Ham a week previously, with the fans already calling for the Dane to be sacked.
Tottenham ‘not as bad as it all looks to be’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Spurs can still qualify for European football this season.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the club should not make any “knee-jerk decisions” on Frank’s future at the club.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I think he’s actually a very level-headed guy. He will come good. They’ve got to back him in this window.
“And if they do stick with him to the end of the season, let’s see where they sit. They’re doing better than last year’s performance already, as far as I can see, and they’re saying, you know, we’ve seen this table shift pretty quickly in the Premier League almost week to week.
“And so if Spurs put a little run together then they could be up there, you know, challenging for eighth, seventh place, which could be the Europa or conference league. So let’s just see, because it’s not as bad as it all looks to be and things can change.
“But I understand losing at home to West Ham was a real blow, but this is when they’ve got to have some faith, stick with the manager that you’ve hired and not do knee-jerk reactions. So I hope they stay with Frank. And if I am the lone voice, I hope I’m proven right on this one.”

Former Tottenham player a contender for manager’s job
It was revealed that Spurs could have to pay up to £8million in compensation if they sack Frank during his first season in charge.
Contenders to replace Frank in north London are already emerging, with Ryan Mason a surprise candidate for the Spurs job.
Mason was sacked by Championship club West Brom in January after just seven months in his first ever managerial role.
