I know there’s a ‘big market’ for Kobbie Mainoo, the club signing him from Man United is getting a brilliant player
Kobbie Mainoo has been told he should stay in the Premier League amid interest from Napoli for the Man United midfielder.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has given his verdict on Mainoo ahead of the January transfer window.
Man United do not want to sell Mainoo, but the 20-year-old has been frozen out of Ruben Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are the latest club linked with a move for Mainoo, who has made just one start for Man United this season.
‘Big market’ for Kobbie Mainoo
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there will be plenty of interest in Mainoo in January.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Mainoo needs to “get back on track.“
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I don’t see any particular problems with him in terms of his personality and his actions off the pitch. I see a young, dedicated player and I just think the manager hasn’t fancied him for whatever reason, and we all knew the talent and we’ve seen him have the talent and performances we saw before.
“So I think it’s time for everybody there to part ways, particularly as soon as possible for his age, because I think he’s another one that would have been considered for the World Cup and we were talking about him just not long ago for the World Cup, and he’s got to get back on track.
“I think a move in the UK would still be best for him, but I think there may be a chance we might have Napoli as well. They are another one that’s been mentioned as well.
“So they keep on reinventing Man United midfielders. Maybe that’s their new position. But there’s going to be, I think, a big market for Mainoo, and I think he will produce, definitely, whoever gets him.”

Man United targeting England international
Man United want to add another midfielder to their squad to increase competition for Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
Conor Gallagher has been linked with Man United, and the 25-year-old could be available for just £26million.
Gallagher has previous experience in the Premier League with Chelsea, and wants to reignite his future England prospects.
