'I have never been so happy at a club' – Rangers 27-year-old pleads case for new deal (not Miller)
By Matt Farr
Rangers attacker Martyn Waghorn has revealed he wants to commit his long term future to Ibrox by agreeing a new contract.
The 27-year-old still has 15 months left to run on his current deal with the Scottish club, but has publicly declared his intention to remain with Rangers for the long term.
Waghorn has been handed a key role under Pedro Caixinha during his first four games in charge at Ibrox, contributing one goal and two assists from his four starts.
But the former Leicester City striker endured a frustrating first half of the campaign, where he scored just three goals between August and February, making his chances of landing a new deal a rather grim prospect.
However, the introduction of Caixinha and his more direct playing style has given Waghorn a new lease of life, and he is keen to continue firing for Rangers long into the future.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he admitted that he had ‘never been so happy at a club’ in his career, and would ‘love to stay’.
He said: “I am more than happy here. I have enjoyed playing and having a run in the team. So hopefully it is something that can get addressed. I would love to stay. I love this place.
“I am enjoying challenging for trophies. Listen, I have never been so happy at a club. If something comes about, great, if not I am more than happy playing for this club at the minute.
“I have still got 15 months left on it [contract] so there is no rush. I am guessing the manager is judging everyone. Everyone is playing for their place in the squad just like me.”
As well as championing his own cause for a fresh deal at Ibrox, Waghorn also backed team-mate Kenny Miller to earn an extended stay.
The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but has been a vital part of the club’s history, and Waghorn believes he is more than deserving of a new deal.
Despite his slow start to the season, Waghorn has now scored 15 goals and supplied eight assists from 34 appearances in all competitions.
