‘I never thought I’d say this’ – Liverpool fans destroy player they thought would be amazing this season

Liverpool fans are desperate to see their former star return to Anfield after Conor Bradley’s latest performance.

Contracts were the talk of the town in Merseyside last year, as Liverpool faced the prospect of losing Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold for nothing in the summer window.

Ultimately, the Egyptian and Dutch stars both committed their futures to the club, agreeing to two-year deals.

Alexander-Arnold instead chose to join Real Madrid, much to the disdain and derision of Liverpool‘s fans.

However, those same supporters may be wishing that the Englishman had instead chosen to remain at Anfield, particularly after Bradley‘s miserable 45 minutes against Chelsea.

Liverpool fans desperate for answers at right-back

Alejandro Garnacho tormented Bradley in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool.

The Argentina international turned the Northern Irishman inside, then out, and the young defender was lucky not to receive a red card after kicking out at the ex-Man United man whilst already on a yellow.

Bradley’s performance was so bad that he was hooked at half-time, with Dominik Szoboszlai instead chosen to play at right-back, although he hardly covered himself in glory.

Following the loss, Liverpool fans took to social media, pleading for Alexander-Arnold to return to his old stomping ground.

One Liverpool fan said: “Not even close and people were saying that we were good with Trent leaving, it baffles me how overrated by Liverpool fans he is. Trent at least was a genius attacking, Bradley can’t do anything and is a liability in defence, getting yellows every game.”

Another chimed in by saying: “Guys told me Frimpong & Bradley will replace Trent. Never ever in a million years.”

Liverpool transfer strategy needs refining

Liverpool spent big this summer. Really big. The Reds broke the British record transfer fee twice on Florian Wirtz and then Alexander Isak.

They also added Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, and Milos Kerkez.

This summer was fun. Liverpool targeted some of Europe’s most in-form and in-demand talents with seemingly little care for fit, form, or function within Arne Slot‘s 4-3-3.

But now, it shows. Frimpong is woefully inept as a right-back in a back four, whilst fitting Ekitike, Isak, Gakpo, Salah, and Isak in the same team, whilst also having a functional midfield and a capable backline, seems an impossible task.

Liverpool would be well served to be more strategic in the coming windows, as the summer’s splurge has not only failed to elevate Slot’s team, but it may have actually made it worse.
