Hutton thrilled by 'brilliant move' news for Rangers starlet Williamson
Alan Hutton has raved after Rangers youngster Ben Williamson secured a “brilliant move” on loan to Livingston.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the youngster would flourish after making a step up the divisions this summer.
As confirmed by Rangers on Monday (July 12th), the 19-year-old has moved to Livi after signing a new two-year contract at Ibrox.
Williamson spent last season on loan at Scottish Championship outfit Arbroath.
The teenager won the young player of the year award at his temporary side as they finished seventh in the second tier.
He is now set to make the step up to the side who finished sixth in the Premiership last term.

Hutton claimed Williamson is highly rated at Ibrox and suggested a move would do him the world of good.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I think it’s a brilliant move. Obviously, he went to Arbroath in the second part of the season.
“I think he ended up getting young player of the season which shows you that his performances were standout.
“I think going to Livingston and the way they play football – the hunger and the desire that the manager has put into them – is a great step.
“Playing at a high level, these are the steps that you need to make. He’s obviously ready for it.
“If he wasn’t, the interest wouldn’t be there and this (move) wouldn’t have developed. So he is ready and it’s only going to make him a better player in the long run.
“I think when the loan players go out, it is about taking the steps and finding the pathway back into the first team.
“He’s gone to a lower level and had the experience of playing week in, week out against difficult opposition. Now it’s time to move up a level, so I think it’s an ideal move.
“He’s obviously thought very highly of at Rangers. I mean, he played in the first game at Partick Thistle. So Gerrard is keeping an eye on him.
“I think he’ll be very happy that this move has come up. Now he can test himself against the best players in the league.”
