A shocking signing: West Ham fans react on Twitter to this player’s performance v Man City

By Dominic Toner

Gokhan Tore felt the fire of West Ham fans as they targeted him on Twitter following his performance against Manchester City.

Tore, 24, joined West Ham on a season-long loan this summer from Besiktas, with the option of a permanent transfer, but the midfielder has struggled to adjust since his move.

The Hammers suffered a 3-1 away defeat at Man City which leaves them with just three points from their opening three games.

Tore was replaced at half-time by Slaven Bilic, with Sam Sam Byram coming on, to cap a miserable Sunday afternoon for the midfielder.

A Raheem Sterling brace and Fernandinho goal ensured the points for Man City, although the Hammers produced a stronger second-half with Michail Antonio scoring a header to get them back in the game at 2-1.

The West Ham supporters gave a thorough assessment of Tore’s performance, with one fan harshly claiming “he is the worst winger I’ve ever seen at the club”.

The Turkey international was a long-term target for West Ham, with manager Slaven Bilic having worked with him when they were together at Besiktas.

Tore had a steady season in 2015-16, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 35 appearances for Besiktas.

He has made 26 appearances for Turkey, but hasn’t scored a goal for his national team.

In other West Ham team news, the club’s star has been rewarded with his first international call-up.
