'I worry for Leeds' - Exclusive: Five big names touted to quit Elland Road by Darren Bent

Darren Bent believes Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will lead a raft of big-name departures if the Whites are not promoted this season.

The former Tottenham and England hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests the Argentinian boss could follow four star players out the door at Elland Road should they face another season in the Championship.

He named Kalvin Phillips, Jack Harrison, Helder Costa and Ben White as those most likely to leave.

The future of the 2019/20 season is currently up in the air, with EFL chairman Rick Parry telling a DCMS committee that they “realistically” cannot continue past the end of July.

With the Whites’ promotion hopes on ice, Bent believes the club are facing losing some of their biggest names both on and off the pitch.

Asked by Football Insider who he thought would be on their way, Bent told Football Insider: “Obviously we’ve got Kalvin Phillips, I think he could go. Jack Harrison’s done well so I think people will be looking at him.

“They could lose Helder Costa, I think he could go, the centre-half I really like, Ben White, too.

“I just think for Leeds, it’s all been geared up for two years towards promotion and I think even the manager could go. I think it’s been geared up for two years to get promoted, it should have happened last season but didn’t, this is the season it will happen.

“I do worry for Leeds if they don’t go up, where do they go from there?”

With football in England currently suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic, United currently sit top of the second-tier table by a single point.

Bielsa arrived at Elland Road back in the summer of 2018 and took the Whites, who had finished 13th the season before, to the play-off semi-finals.

There are currently nine games left to play for Leeds, including a crunch clash against third-placed Fulham.
