Ian Rush, Dominik Szoboszlai react to Diogo Jota’s post as Liverpool exit looms

Diogo Jota has taken to social media while away on international duty as speculation continues around his Liverpool future.

The 28-year-old forward has struggled to make much of an impact since Arne Slot‘s arrival last summer, starting just 14 Premier League matches for the Reds, but he still managed 12 goal contributions.

Jota is now expected to leave Liverpool during the summer transfer window, with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz’s futures also up in the air ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Having arrived from Wolves in 2020, the centre-forward has made nearly 200 appearances across all competitions for the Merseyside club, but he may now have made his last after playing against Crystal Palace.

He is now away with the Portuguese national team, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, but even against Germany on Wednesday, 4 June, he featured for just seven minutes.

Taking to Instagram (5 June), Jota shared a series of images from Portugal’s victory over Germany, with the simple caption: “Vamos,” with his nation’s flag.

Ian Rush and Dominik Szoboszlai both liked the post, joined by Wataru Endo, Chelsea‘s Pedro Neto, Fulham’s Raul Jimenez, and Wolves’ Matt Doherty.

Arne Slot to reshape Liverpool’s forward line this summer

Football Insider verdict

Jota, Nunez, and Diaz could all be moved on at Anfield this summer, with links to La Liga and the Saudi Pro League emerging over the last few weeks.

While Slot managed to lift the Premier League title during his first season in England, being knocked out of all other competitions left supporters wanting far more from the team.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have already put pen to paper on new Liverpool deals, providing a huge boost for the summer transfer window, but Trent Alexander-Arnold chose a different journey.

While Jeremie Frimpong is not a forward, he could play a key role in reshaping the Reds’ attacking lineup, though Ian Darke told Liverpool News 247 (2 June) that the Dutchman is not guaranteed a starting spot.

Milos Kerkez looks set to join from Bournemouth, and Football Insider understands that Liverpool are confident of sealing a deal for Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Slot is in the process of building a star-studded team, one which should be able to compete in Europe next season, and other teams in the Premier League will be rather concerned.
