Ian Taylor expressed his delight on Twitter as Aston Villa beat QPR 1-0 at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon.
The former Premier League player singled out defender Nathan Baker for his “immense” display as Steve Bruce’s side kept a clean sheet on their way to a valuable three points.
Striker Jonathan Kodjia, who missed a first-half penalty, scored 15 minutes from time with a low shot to help his side in their push for promotion.
The Midlands giants are now six points adrift of the top six going into a busy and important festive period.
After the game club legend Taylor posted his verdict on the away win on his personal Twitter account.

Following his summer move from Bristol City, Kodjia has been one of Villa’s main stars, scoring seven goals in 17 league appearances.
The goal at Loftus Road was his first way from home – he last found the back of the net in September against Reading.
Nonetheless, Villa are 13th in the Championship table on 31 points from 22 games as they have also won six out of 11 games under manager Bruce.
They host newly-promoted Burton Albion on Boxing Day, before taking on fellow promotion chasers Leeds in a mouth-watering tie on home soil.
Villa have picked up three wins on the bounce at home and are the only side yet to be beaten on their own patch in the second-tier.
