Ian Taylor delivers verdict as Aston Villa draw Tottenham in FA Cup

By Amir Mir

Ian Taylor has sarcastically claimed that Aston Villa’s draw with Tottenham in the FA Cup third round is an “easy one”.

Championship giants Villa will travel to White Hart Lane to take on the Premier League title chasers between the dates of January 6-9, 2017.

Spurs have lifted the FA Cup on eight occasions, while Villa boast a record of lifting the famous trophy seven times.

As the draw was made, former Villa midfielder Taylor posted this message on his personal Twitter account.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Villa 3-1 at White Hart Lane last season during their humiliating relegation from the top-tier.

Now, they are struggling in the Championship, sitting in 15th place, six points off the play-offs as former Premier League boss Steve Bruce has the task of guiding them back to the promise land.

By contrast, Tottenham are flying high in the top-flight, seven points off leaders Chelsea, while the north London club sit in fifth place.

Additionally, they have yet to be beaten on home soil in all competitions this season as the White Hart Lane outfit aim to add a ninth FA Cup trophy to their cabinet.

Villa last made the FA Cup final in 2015 under the stewardship of former Tottenham man Tim Sherwood, but the Midlands side were thrashed 4-0 by Arsenal at Wembley.

In other Aston Villa news, this attacker is fighting for his career at the Midlands club amid Steve Bruce doubts.
