Aston Villa icon Ian Taylor has slammed the performance of clubs’ players in the 1-1 draw with Preston at Villa Park on Tuesday night.
Steve Bruce’s men had to come from a goal behind to earn a point against North End and missed the chance to move back into the automatic promotion spots in the Championship standings.
Second-placed Cardiff can open up a four point gap between themselves and the Villains if they win against Ipswich on Wednesday night.
Taylor was clearly not happy with the way the Villa players performed against Preston, and now he says that there must be a reaction against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.
“Disappointing performance last night but at least we didn’t lose. Need a result at the weekend now. Will be good to go back to one of my old clubs but need to turn them over,” he said on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday morning.

Tom Barkhuizen put Preston ahead in the 37th minute at Villa Park on Tuesday night before Lewis Grabban netted a penalty in the 66th minute to earn what was arguably an undeserved point.
Villa conceded a surprise total of 21 shots on their home turf to Alex Neil’s side, who have promotion aspirations of their own as they currently sit ninth in the table, just two points outside the play-off spots.
Next up for Aston Villa is Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls are 16th in the standings and lost 2-1 to Millwall on Tuesday night.
