Ian Taylor has slammed “stupid” Jack Grealish for getting sent off for Aston Villa during their 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.
The 21-year-old was shown a second yellow by the referee for a mistimed tackle with 12 minutes left on the clock and the scores level.
After Jonathan Kodjia and Britt Assambalonga had scored for their respective teams in the first half, Villa were creating enough chances to warrant them clinching all three points.
But after Steve Bruce’s side went down to ten men, the promotion expert had to make several changes as Villa went on to concede a stoppage-time goal to teenager Ben Brereton.
Grealish’s sending off changed the momentum of the match as Villa suffered their fifth defeat in 2017.
This angered former Villa midfielder Taylor who had this to say about Grealish as posted on his personal Twitter account.
“A stupid sending off,” said Taylor. “Can’t tackle like that if you are on a yellow.”

Paul Tierney, who was officiating the game at the City Ground, booked Grealish in the first half for kicking the ball away.
He then showed him a second yellow and sent him off for a mistimed tackle on former Villa right-back Eric Lichaj.
Grealish has played 23 games in all competitions for his boyhood club this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
It is the second time this season that the England under-21 international has seen red after receiving a three-match ban in October for a stamp in the derby against Wolves.
