Ian Wright: Tottenham should complete attacker deal in summer
By Dominic Toner
Ian Wright believes that Tottenham should try to complete a deal for Southampton forward Manolo Gabbiadini in the summer.
The 25-year-old only completed a move to St Mary’s Stadium in January and has enjoyed a sensational start to his Saints career.
He has scored six goals in just four appearances so far and has made a smooth transition to English football.
The Italian striker is expected to lead the line at the weekend as Claude Puel’s side travel to White Hart Lane to face Spurs in a Premier League clash.
Ex-Arsenal forward Wright believes that the north London club should be considering a move for Gabbiadini in the summer to improve their options and feels he could be on the move.

“Manolo Gabbiadini is the kind of player that Tottenham should be looking to buy,” Wright said, as quoted by the Sun. “The way he takes chances and how sharp he looks… I can’t see him staying at Southampton too long if he carries on like this.”
Spurs have suffered a major injury blow to their star striker Harry Kane and he is set for a spell on the sidelines.
They are now set to turn to either Heung-Min Son or Vincent Janssen against Southampton, but fans believe they are short in that department.
The Saints would surely demand a big fee for their recent signing Gabbiadini, who is under contract until 2021.
He has scored in every match so far for the Saints, including a brace in their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United in the EFL Cup final.
Gabbiadini managed 25 goals in 79 appearances for his former club Napoli and looks to improve on that record in English football.
