Ibrahim Konate reacts to Amadou Onana’s ‘wow’ message amid contract saga

Amadou Onana’s latest social media post caught the eye of Ibrahim Konate, with the Liverpool defender embroiled in contract talks with the Merseyside club.

Onana was part of the Aston Villa side that beat Tottenham 2-0 on Friday evening (16 May), with goals from Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara sealing the three points.

The result means that Unai Emery’s side now sit fifth in the Premier League, and as it stands they would get Champions League football next season.

However, Manchester City have a game in hand over the Villans, as they welcome Bournemouth to the Etihad Stadium.

Villa travel to Old Trafford for the final game of the campaign, where they will face a Manchester United side who will have just played a Europa League final.

Onana sends message to Villa fans

Onana has impressed in the centre of midfield in the last few games, and was brilliant once again as Villa dispatched Spurs.

The Belgium international took to social media after the match to celebrate the win, sharing a photo of himself with team-mate Kamara, who scored the second goal of the night.

The caption read: “Job‘s Not done yet, but WOW Villa Park what a Place. +3points and @bouba_darkoss (Kamara) first of the season.”

Konate, who is in contract negotiations with Liverpool, liked the post to show his appreciation.

Liverpool wary of Konate exit

Liverpool fans booed Trent Alexander-Arnold after the full-back confirmed he would be leaving the club in the summer, with his likely destination Real Madrid.

With Konate out of contract at the end of next season, Reds fans will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself and that a deal can be sorted soon.

The French centre-back has struggled with injuries at times during his career at Anfield, but has still played 29 league games during their title-winning campaign.

The 25-year-old has an almost formidable partnership with Virgil van Dijk, and along with Alisson’s brilliance, it was a huge reason why Arne Slot’s side won the league.

A departure is still a long way off for Konate, but with the Alexander-Arnold drama present in minds, worries are starting to creep in.
