Ibrahima Konate reacts to Mohamed Salah amid Liverpool contract development

Ibrahima Konate reacted to Mohammed Salah’s recent social media message, while in the midst of contract negotiations with Liverpool.

The French centre back has been at Anfield since 2021, when he made the switch to Merseyside from German club RB Leipzig.

Arne Slot’s side wrapped up the Premier League title with four games to spare this season, with the 26-year-old featuring in 31 out of the 38 games.

However, Konate has attracted interest from Real Madrid, who are ready to pounce if contract negotiations take a turn for the worse.

Salah celebrates league title

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month (14 April) that ahead of the summer window, Liverpool’s top priority is agreeing a new deal with Konate.

His current contract runs out next summer, and the Reds are desperate not to be caught out, like they were with Trent Alexander-Arnold.

One person who will not be leaving anytime soon is Salah, who agreed to extend his deal at the club back in April.

The Egyptian took to social media after Liverpool’s open-top bus parade, to commemorate their 20th top-flight title, sharing a number of photos from the day on Instagram.

Konate, who was also part of the celebrations, liked the post to show his appreciation.

Liverpool look to build on success

The Reds are set for a number of incomings over the summer, in a bid to lift the mood after Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz looks set to make the move to Liverpool, after the midfielder informed Vincent Kompany that he would not be joining Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old was in talks with Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly pulled out of the deal due to the expected price.

Slot’s side are set for a further raid on Leverkusen, with Jeremie Frimpong replacing Alexander Arnold at Anfield.

Despite having many potential arrivals on the horizon, Liverpool still need to ensure that they tie Konate down to a new contract, in order to maintain stability.

The French international could be a mainstay in the Reds’ backline for years to come, and it would be disappointing to lose him on a free.
