Alan Hutton says he expects to see Rangers manager Steven Gerrard axe winger Sheyi Ojo in favour of Scott Arfield in the club’s Europa League clash against Porto.
The former Gers and lifelong fan at Ibrox, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that he predicts the Gers boss will keep faith with the majority of players from Sunday’s 3-0 win over Heart, having seen Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack and Ryan Kent substituted off.
Ojo played 82 minutes of the League Cup clash at Hampden Park, while Arfield came on as a substitute for the final 13 minutes.
Hutton says that he sees Gerrard swapping the 21-year-old and the Canadian international on Thursday night, but that he expects the majority of the side to remain the same at Ibrox.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I think Arfield will play. I think he’ll come in for Ojo.
“He obviously took Kent, Jack, Morelos off, I think they’re stick ons to play. I think he was just wrapping them up for this game.
“Aribo could possibly come in, he could be him or Kamara. I think he’ll go with Kamara because he’s a little bit more defensive. There’s options but I don’t think there’ll be too many. They’re doing well at the moment, confidence is high.
“As long as everybody’s fit and raring to go, which they look it, there could be one or two possible changes but other than that I think it’ll be more of the same.”
Ojo has played 22 times for Rangers across all competitions already this season, netting five goals and chipping in with a further five assists for his teammates.
Arfield has played the same number of games as his teammate, operating in a variety of positions across the midfield and attack for Gerrard.
