Ibrox Exclusive: Hutton fears Rangers could lose ‘Excellent’ player amid transfer report

Alan Hutton has urged Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara to remain at Ibrox until the end of the season after being linked with a move to the Premier League.

The former Gers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that he can understand why the Finnish international would be tempted to leave but that he can play a big part in his current club’s success.

The Daily Mail report that Aston Villa are among a number of sides from across Europe who are keen on the 24-year-old after playing an important role for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.

However, Hutton says he wants to see Kamara remain at Ibrox until the end of the season, admitting it is uncertain as to whether the Gers will be able to stave off Premier League interest.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I read a few teams are monitoring him. Kamara’s played really well since he’s moved from Dundee, he’s done excellent.

“I would like to see him stay for the rest of the season because I think he can be a big asset for Rangers moving forward. They’re trying to build something.

“I understand it’s the Premier League and that players want to play at the highest level possible, so I can see both sides of the coin. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Kamara has already played 29 times across all competitions this season, despite Gerrard having a host of midfield options among his squad to choose from.

The likes of Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Greg Stewart have all featured on a regular basis, the Glasgow giants fighting it out on four fronts across league and cups.
