Rangers are closing in on the signing of Birmingham City playmaker Greg Stewart after he accepted their contract offer, Football Insider understands.
Steven Gerrard’s side are working on adding the 29-year-old to their squad after already agreeing pre-contract deals for Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones and Motherwell forward Jake Hastie.
A source close to the club has told Football Insider that Stewart has accepted Rangers’ contract offer and he is set to become their third signing of the summer before the window has opened.
The experienced playmaker is out of contract at the end of the season and will become a free agent when his three-year deal with the mid-table English Championship outfit expires.
Rangers regard Stewart as another good-value signing, given his proven calibre in the Scottish Premiership and his availability on a free.
He has scored nine goals and supplied 10 assists from 34 matches in all competitions this season, with the bulk of those coming while on loan at Kilmarnock in the first half of the campaign.
The former Cowdenbeath and Dundee playmaker has been less statistically successful at Aberdeen but Rangers are convinced he could be an excellent-value capture.
Rangers have announced the Jones signing, and have revealed they are close to landing Hastie, without officially confirming they have yet done so.
