Swansea City and Hull City are working to beat Rangers to the signing of Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane on loan, Football Insider understands.

Football Insider revealed yesterday that the Glasgow giants have made an approach for the 20-year-old, who is set to go out on loan again next season.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club face strong competition for the services of Kane from ambitious Championship duo Swansea and Hull.

There is also interest in the central midfielder from second-tier new boys Charlton as well as Preston North End.

Kane is in demand after a very successful spell at Doncaster Rovers last season, where he started 39 league matches among 49 appearances in all competitions.

The Anfield rising star caught the eye by directly contributing to 17 goals from midfield, made up of seven goals and 10 assists.

Gerrard is a big admirer of Kane having worked with the former Bristol City youngster during his time as Liverpool Under-18s manager in the 2017-18 campaign.

He is hoping to use his Liverpool connections to make Kane the fourth loan signing from his former club during his Rangers tenure after previously snapping up Ryan Kent, Ovie Ejaria and Sheyi Ojo on temporary deals.

Kane is set to decide on his future after failing to make the Liverpool first-team squad for their pre-season tour of America.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have reached a verbal agreement to sign an attacker valued at £10million-plus.
