Ilkay Gundogan sends ‘incredible’ message after confirmed Man City exit news
Ilkay Gundogan had an emotional tribute message to a Man City teammate following their win against Bournemouth.
Man City took another step towards securing Champions League qualification with a 3-1 win over Bournemouth on 20 May.
Omar Marmoush opened the scoring with a stunning long-range strike, before Bernardo Silva and Nico Gonzalez added to the tally in what turned out to be a lively contest at the Etihad.
The match carried added significance as it marked Kevin De Bruyne’s final home appearance for Man City, following confirmation last month that he will leave the club this summer.
His farewell, however, was cut short after he was substituted in an enforced change following Mateo Kovacic’s red card.
Gundogan, who lined up alongside De Bruyne in midfield, shared what looks to be their final appearance together at the Etihad. After the match, the German dedicated a heartfelt message to his long-time teammate.
Premier League table | Points | Goal Difference |

Ilkay Gundogan sends emotional message to Kevin De Bruyne amid Man City farewell
Gundogan posted a heartfelt tribute to De Bruyne following what was his final home appearance in an Instagram post, sharing a touching message: “One of the biggest privileges I’ve had playing for City was sharing the pitch, dressing room and incredible memories with you. All the best for you and your family, you will be missed.”
The post received a wave of support from City players, with teammates including Manuel Akanji and Matheus Nunes liking the message.
Despite the positive moment shared between the players, Gundogan has come under criticism from sections of the Man City fanbase. Some supporters have scrutinised his performances this season and questioned Pep Guardiola’s decision to continue starting him despite a dip in form.
Gundogan returned to City last summer after a short spell at Barcelona, but the campaign hasn’t lived up to his typically high standards. While De Bruyne will leave Man City at the end of his contract, Gundogan was offered a one-year extension to remain at the club.
Man City handed fresh boost in Morgan Gibbs-White pursuit

As City prepare for life after De Bruyne, the club have turned their attention to potential replacements within the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed that Man City have received a boost in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White, as financial concerns mount at the City Ground.
There’s growing belief that Forest may be forced to cash in on the playmaker if they miss out on Champions League qualification, offering City an opening to make their move.
