Chris Sutton has boldly predicted that James Forrest will start for Celtic in the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers.
The BT Sport pundit made the remark whilst commentating on the match between Hamilton and Celtic on BT Sport 1, which ended 2-1 to the Hoops (08/04, 12:00).
Forrest didn’t start the game, with Patrick Roberts replacing him in his first start of the year, but that didn’t stop Sutton from making his prediction.
“He will start, he will start the semi-final, I’ll be shocked if he didn’t” Sutton said on BT Sports.
Forrest has been one of the Hoops’ best players this season, scoring 16 goals in the process, but he has gone off the boil in recent weeks, which saw him replaced by Roberts.
Football Insider verdict
Sutton is certainly being forthright as usual, and the former Hoops striker may well be correct that Forrest will start the upcoming semi-final against Rangers. Forrest, along with Scott Brown, has been one of the Bhoys’ best players this season, and it makes sense that he would start in what is the biggest game the Hoops have left this season. That doesn’t mean that Roberts won’t also be involved in the game as well, perhaps in place of Scott Sinclair, who hasn’t been at his best this season. Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers will be delighted with the options he has available for the semi-final, and Forrest is certainly one of those.
