Massive boost: Key Celtic star delivers some very good news about his future

By John Reid

Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has been talking to the media after a big week for the player.

He was a star man for Celtic in their marrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and signed a new six-year deal to commit to Celtic until 2023.

Speaking to the press, as quoted by Celtic’s official twitter account, Tierney said “The club thought I was doing well enough and rewarded me with a good contract. I’m delighted.

“I’ve always had aspirations to play for Celtic. For me, I’m very happy here and that’s why I signed a long-term deal.”

Tierney has recently been linked with a host of English Premier League clubs, but in the meantime his next game for Celtic is this weekend against St Johnstone.

Football Insider Verdict

Tierney’s future will be a constant source of speculation between now and the January transfer window, and quite possibly the summer transfer window as well. The player himself has said that he is happy to stay at Celtic, but it seems inevitable that a club, quite possibly Tottenham, will make a bid for the Celtic and Scotland left-back. Celtic would presumably knock back any bid in January, even if the bid is in the region of around £20million, but if a bigger bid is made in the summer then Celtic may well have a decision to make.
