‘I’m hearing from good sources’ – West Ham leading race to sign Real Madrid star in January

West Ham United are reportedly in initial talks to sign one of Real Madrid’s attacking stars.

The East London side are in big trouble under Nuno Espirito Santo, with their Premier League status hanging in the balance.

Espirito Santo replaced Graham Potter at the London Stadium at the end of September, but has yet to record his first win in charge of the Hammers.

West Ham are now being tipped for relegation, and currently sit 19th in the Premier League, already four points adrift of safety.

West Ham backed to land marquee signing

West Ham have been linked with Real Madrid forward Endrick in recent weeks, as they look to address their attacking issues.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Hammers are leading the race to land the Brazilian in the January window.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that, according to some very good sources, West Ham have already opened talks regarding Endrick.

Wyness added that the 19-year-old would be a marquee signing for the Irons and could help to appease supporters.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “The strange name I’m going to put with Endrick is West Ham.

“I’m hearing from very good sources that there is interest and there’s already initial talks going on. West Ham have to do something, as we know, and that could be a bit of a marquee signing to try and appease the fans and show some intention.

“We all know that they’re not in a great position right now, so there’s going to have to be something done, and I’m hearing that West Ham could be right at the front of the queue for Endrick. Whether he’ll go is a completely different thing, but that’s where I’m hearing the strongest interest is at the moment.”

It is evident that the East London side need reinforcements, and the club will be looking to address three positions in particular.

Sources say that West Ham’s primary target in the transfer window will be a centre-forward, hence the interest in Endrick.

They would also like to strengthen in central midfield and central defence if finances allow.
