‘I’m in contact’ – Marco Silva shares latest on quitting Fulham as Sky Sports update

Marco Silva’s future at Fulham could soon be resolved with an offer now on the table for him to sign to extend his contract with the club.

Fulham have struggled at the start of this campaign after a quiet summer transfer window saw them fail to add much quality to their squad.

Marco Silva has been the Cottagers’ boss for four years now as he led them to the Premier League in his first season in charge and has helped them consolidate ever since.

Doubts around his future at the club have emerged in recent months, however, after Football Insider revealed that Nottingham Forest were targeting Silva to take over from Ange Postecoglou.

He has remained in west London for now, though, and could be about to commit his long-term future to the club after a new development in this contract saga.

Silva has been offered a three-year contract by Fulham after Shahid Khan talks

Football Insider recently revealed that Fulham have been holding contract discussions with Silva despite the threat of the sack after a dismal start to the new campaign.

Reports emerged on Monday (17 November) that Fulham were ready to offer Silva a new deal soon, and Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has now reported that the Portuguese boss has been offered a long-term extension following talks during the international break with the club’s owner, Shahid Khan.

The report states that the offer on the table is believed to be a three-year contract extension, as the club remain keen to extend his stay beyond five years, with his current deal expiring next summer.

What Silva and Khan have said about his future at the club

Silva has been an overawing success at Craven Cottage, and sacking him would have been a bad mistake despite some poor form to start the 2025-26 season off.

He has been asked to comment publicly on his future, but admitted in September that he did not want the situation to distract from his players and the task at hand, which is to improve on the pitch.

Silva said: “Yes, it’s true that I’m in the last year (of my) contract. One thing is that I’m not going to let the people talk about my contract situation – never will (it) be a distraction in this football club, never.

“If the club is going to speak with me, of course, we had some conversations last season, we are ready to sit. The approach is easy, we are always speaking, I’m always speaking, I’m in contact with the people from the club.

“The right timing will come for these conversations for sure. Until then, until the moment that we have something to announce or not, it’s never going to be a distraction.

Khan himself spoke to talkSPORT about the situation last month and insisted that Silva is in the club’s “long-term plans,” and so they will be desperate to tie him down to this new deal now that is has reportedly been formally offered.
