‘I’m told’ – This is how Scott McTominay feels about Premier League return after Man United reveal
Scott McTominay is loving life at Napoli and a return to the Premier League is not current part of his thinking despite links with a return to England.
This comes after reports claimed the 29-year-old has been offered a new contract at Napoli, and he is believed to be keen to extend his stay in Serie A.
McTominay has quickly become a cult hero at Napoli, where he scored the goal which saw them lift last season’s Scudetto and earned a Ballon d’Or nomination.
He has also become a star player for his country and is set to represent Scotland at the World Cup where he will play a key role in any success they enjoy.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the midfielder is determined to keep up his strong displays without the distraction of transfer rumours.

Scott McTominay set to snub Premier League interest
Football Insider revealed in November that Napoli are determined to keep McTominay despite interest from the likes of Tottenham, who considered a January move.
After preventing his departure mid-way through the season, they have retained their stance ahead of the summer, and hope a new contract will ward off suitors.
“I’m told Scott McTominay is loving life at Napoli,” Brown told Football Insider.
“He’s done a fantastic job since going there, he’s going to be a massive asset for Scotland at the World Cup, and he’s at the top of his game.
“From everything I heard about him at United, he’s a great lad and I’m sure they’ll be determined to keep hold of him at Napoli if they can.
“There’s talk that he has been offered a new contract, and I expect he’ll be happy to sign it.
“With the World Cup coming up, he could do without all the speculation about his future, and like I said, he’s very happy playing for Napoli at the moment.
“Of course a return to the Premier League could be appealing, as it would be for anybody, but why would he risk everything he’s got going for him in Italy?
“He can stay there where the fans love him, the club love him, all of that, or he can move to a club where he doesn’t know if things are going to be as good.”
Man United have learned from McTominay’s departure
McTominay’s success since moving to Napoli has led to frequent questions about whether he should have been allowed to leave Man United to begin with.
The Red Devils’ struggles in the Premier League in recent years have opened them up for major criticism, with their transfer strategy being heavily scrutinised.
However, Brown told Football Insider that Man United have learned from McTominay’s sale, and blocked Kobbie Mainoo from leaving the club as a result.

Brown told Football Insider in September that Man United will not let Mainoo leave, despite Ruben Amorim being open to the idea of his departure.
Since the manager’s dismissal and subsequent arrival of Michael Carrick, he has been reinstated as a key part of the side with no plans to let him move on.
