Celtic icon Henrik Larrson has heaped praise on the current Hoops squad for winning back to back domestic trebles.
The Swedish striker knows how hard it is to pull off the achievement, having done it only once – in 2001- in his seven seasons with the Hoops.
The fact that the current side have managed to break records and make history is extremely impressive to the Hoops legend.
“They’ve done it now and they should be immensely proud of it because it’s never easy he said, as quoted on the Hoops’ official website.
“Starting off this season and having done it the year before, and to still have the determination and the willpower to go through it all again, is fantastic.
“A treble is difficult enough – we did it back in 2001 – and then to do it twice is unbelievable. I take my hat off to everybody that is involved with the team – it’s fantastic.”
Football Insider verdict
The fact that a Hoops legend like Henrik Larsson is impressed with the achievements of the current Hoops side says a lot about their place in history. The football might not have been as good as last season’s, but the similar outcome has to be respected. Even the great Hoops side which featured the likes of Larsson, Chris Sutton, Neil Lennon etc. could only win one treble despite dominating Scottish football for years. Of course, that side did have great success in Europe, which has eluded the current Hoops side despite their best efforts so far. The next test for the Bhoys is to go on a decent run in Europe, and only when the current side begins to break-up will people really appreciate the incredible feat in winning back to back trebles. This side will go down in Hoops history, and it fully deserves to for it’s sheer relentlessness and will to win.
