‘Incredible, you must have this to play at Rangers’ – Alan Hutton shares instant reaction to Jefte deal

Rangers target Jefte plays “without fear” – which makes him an ideal addition at Ibrox.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton hailed the left-back and claimed he would be a good fit for Philippe Clement’s squad.

The 20-year-old currently plays for Cypriot side APOEL on loan from Fluminense and has reportedly agreed a deal with the Gers to join permanently this month.

Jefte has bagged three goals and four assists across 18 league outings this season, but has reportedly gone AWOL and has not made contact with APOEL for the last five days.

Hutton is hopeful that the deal will still be completed and suggested he would “jump at the chance” to play for the club.

“It was an area that they had to strengthen this month,” he told Football Insider.

“There has been a lot of uncertainty at left-back with Barisic’s contract expiring soon and Yilmaz possibly moving on.

“From what I’ve seen, Jefte looks really attacking and would really fit into this team well.

“He loves to drive forward, he’s got a good final ball too.

“As we know from over the last few years, the full-backs have been a massive part of what the club do.

Rangers

“He’s very young, but he plays without fear and you must have this element to play at Rangers, it’s incredible.

“For an opportunity to go and play for a club like Rangers, I think he’ll jump at the chance.”
