‘INEOS face embarrassing situation after Tottenham payout’
Tottenham could be set for a boost in sponsorship revenue after terminating their deal with INEOS.
Daniel Levy held talks with INEOS last month after it was revealed the petrochemicals company wanted to end its sponsorship with the club.
INEOS, which is spearheaded by Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, became the north London giants’ official hand sanitiser and 4×4 vehicle partners in 2019.
The partnership was later expanded in 2022, with the INEOS brand displayed in the dugout of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Mail reported on 16 March the two parties have now reached a pay-off agreement to end the deal early, with the Premier League side set to be paid millions.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted it’s “embarrassing” for INEOS to have to pay Spurs out after agreeing a long-term contract with the club.
Deloitte’s 2025 Money League revealed Tottenham’s overall revenue fell from £550million in 2022-23 to £528million last season.
However, Tottenham’s commercial income increased from £228million to £255million across the same period as they continue to cash in on opportunities at their new stadium.

Tottenham to land significant windfall after deal agreed
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed Tottenham could be set to benefit from the INEOS money and a new sponsorship deal.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There would have been a break clause.
“I think it was in the millions in terms of INEOS getting out of there.
“I think it’s embarrassing again for INEOS to have gone through a break clause, having made a strategic decision to get involved in a long-term contract with the Spurs stadium.
“I think Spurs would have played their cards well.
“We all know that Daniel Levy’s strength is his commercial acumen and I do think the commercial team at Spurs would have had a 4×4 category replacement ready to go.
“The rumours are that there is a discussion that was already active, so it’s good for Spurs if they get money from the break clause and a new sponsor in place.”

Tottenham close in on Angel Gomes deal after offer submitted
Football Insider revealed on 28 March Tottenham are leading the race to sign Angel Gomes this summer.
However, they have been joined by clubs from France, Spain and Germany in their efforts to convince the 24-year-old to make the move to north London.

The midfielder’s impressive displays for Lille and England this season have made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe, with his contract set to expire on 30 June.
Gomes has already turned down a contract offer from West Ham, who are not expected to return with a new proposal as things stand.
