Celtic handed major boost after revelation steps up return from major injury blow
Celtic been handed a major injury boost as Anthony Ralston played his first game since suffering a serious blow back in September, according to a report.
The Evening Times has claimed that Ralston made his long-awaited comeback against St Johnstone in the Scottish Youth Cup, in a game which the Hoops won 3-0.
The 19-year-old right-back has been missing after suffering a meniscus injury which needed surgery.
Ralston had been something of a revelation for the club this season, starting for the Bhoys in their Champions League group stage match against PSG and turning in a creditable display despite the Hoops losing 5-0 to the multi-millionaire French league leaders.
With the Bhoys currently suffering from a lengthy injury the return of Ralston has come at a good time for Brendan Rodgers, who could do with having as many players back as possible.
Ralston could well challenge Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa for the position of the Hoops’ permanent right-back position.
With Lustig in poor form and Gamboa absent since October, Ralston has the chance to make the position his own if he is able to stay fit and put in some consistent performances.
The Hoops return to action on Saturday when they take on Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup, hoping to bounce back from their recent 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock.
