Injury expert: ' Laporte expected to miss Man City v Chelsea with muscle injury
Manchester City will be without Aymeric Laporte for this weekend’s clash against Chelsea.
That is according to injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine as well as data analysis.
City are missing John Stones and Laporte at the moment while Kevin De Bruyne was only handed his first start of the season against Wycombe on Wednesday.
These three players featured heavily this summer with Stones playing every game as England marched to the final.
Dinnery insists the players’ lack of a pre-season and fatigue is leading to new soft issue injuries.
“The research tells us the pre-season training forms the cornerstone of any player’s fitness for that season,” Dinnery told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“The fewer hours on the training pitch increases the chance of picking up an injury in the season.
“We know the likes of Gundogan, Laporte and Stones all played at the Euros.
“That has had an impact to varying degrees depending on how far they went in the tournament.
“There will be injuries regardless of the calendar. The worry is the soft tissue and tears, which are fatigue related.
“Laporte and Stones are examples of that. It looks as if that issue might again keep Laporte out this weekend.
“It is a bit of a vicious circle as players try to get themselves back.”
Man City drew their last Premier League game 0-0 against Southampton.
Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Stamford Bridge three points behind their hosts.
