Injury expert reveals Jota latest and if he will start Liverpool clash against Watford
Liverpool are likely to be without Diogo Jota for this weekend’s game against Watford – and Roberto Firmino will replace him in the starting XI.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Jota, 24, failed to play a minute of football for Portugal during the international break before being sent home yesterday (12 October).
Liverpool travel to Vicarage Road looking to maintain their unbeaten Premier League record.
Despite Jota looking like he will miss the game, Dinnery issued a silver lining to Liverpool fans as he explained why Firmino, 30, is likely to start.
“This is a difficult one,” Dinnery told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He hasn’t taken part in any team training with the Portuguese squad. At the time of recording the manager has only spoken about his physio work.
“If you want to look for the silver lining, it can’t be that serious. Otherwise, he would have returned a lot earlier than he has done.
“Portugal still believed there was a chance he could play in those last few games.
“We know he was increasing his intensity levels with the physio, so he’s almost ready to come back into first-team training.
“Of course, he will be assessed by Liverpool when he comes back to the club.
“For me, you have to look at the Liverpool attackers. Salah and Mane are always there which leaves one spot.
“Jota won’t have trained for two weeks by the time of the Watford game and you have Firmino right there.
“He’s not been in away on international duty and he’s in decent form. For me, Firmino will come in with Jota not quite ready.”
