Insider: '95%' of Tottenham fans 'aren't bothered' about major fixture development
Tottenham face a “difficult situation” as their status in the Europa Conference League hangs in the balance.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham had Sunday’s (12 December) Premier League game against Brighton postponed after a Covid outbreak at the club.
Spurs previously had their game against Burnley on 28 November postponed due to poor weather conditions, leaving the club with two games in hand on the majority of Premier League sides.
Tottenham could also miss out on Conference League progression after their game against Rennes last Thursday (9 December) was called off due to a Covid outbreak at the club.
Wenham claims 95% of the Tottenham fanbase won’t be bothered if the club is removed from the Conference League.

When asked if there was a benefit to Tottenham being removed from the Conference League, Wenham told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild, “I see that argument.
“I think 95% of the Spurs fanbase think that at the moment. I think there’s are a lot of fans who aren’t bothered.
“There is the notion that we can focus on the league if we do have less games to play.
“I get that. But what I would say, is we are a club that needs to get a trophy over the line.
“We have come close on multiple occasions and this is a competition we are one of the favourites to win.
“When we attempt to rotate, it doesn’t work. So there is no way to tell if we would go and win it.
“I see the arguments from both sides. It’s a possible higher league finish against the chances of winning a trophy.
“The competition becomes much harder when those other teams drop on from the Europa League.
“There are benefits for and against, it’s a difficult situation either way.”
