Insider: Erik ten Hag to exterminate Man United ‘weak link’ after training ground reveal
Erik ten Hag may have identified “weaknesses” in his Man United squad and brought in performance psychologist Rainier Koers to address them.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this week (19 December) that Koers linked up with the squad in their recent mid-season training camp in Cadiz.

He now observes training at Carrington a couple of times a week.
“There is nothing unusual in this whatsoever,” Dinnery told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“There’s a reason why Erik ten Hag has brought in these key members of his backroom staff. First and foremost, when you’re working with a team, you’ve got to understand the player to try and address some of those areas that are maybe weaknesses.
“Where better to do that than the player’s natural environment, their working office as it were? You need to understand how that player is responding to the stresses of the environment and certain situations within the competitive environment. How is he communicating and engaging with his teammates?
“Talking to someone over the desk about how they think they feel and how they think they respond, that doesn’t always reflect real-life situations.
“The more a player can feel at home, the higher chance you will see the true reflection of a player.

“He’ll be observing from afar, making those notes and that will help formulate that profile of a player to help understand them and pinpoint those characters he needs to address and work on.
“This will be driven by Erik ten Hag and where he feels players are lacking and what needs to be worked on. There will be open lines of communication in regards to that.”
