Insider gives one-word response to report 24-year-old is poised for West Ham deal

By Harvey Byrne

There is truth in the report stating that attacking midfield star Manuel Lanzini is poised for a new contract at West Ham, according to a club insider.

The Daily Express reported on Tuesday that the 24-year-old Argentine was set to receive a major pay hike in order to ward off interest from Liverpool who will be looking at a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

This brought fans to question whether the report was true with many keen to see the club secure the future of one of their key men and ExWHUEmployee, who is known to be a reliable source for West Ham information simply responded via his personal Twitter account with “yes” and the thumbs up emoji.

Lanzini has been a part of the West Ham team for just two years now after initially joining on a season-long loan deal from Al Jazira in the summer of 2015.

The Hammers made quick work of tying him up to a permanent deal the following March and he currently has three years remaining on his contract at the club.

Football Insider verdict:

West Ham will be keen to avoid losing any of their star men from now on after Dimitri Payet’s exit last January and they have certainly shown their ambition by offering Lanzini a mega £80,000-a-week deal. You only have to look across at the situation with Southampton and Virgil van Dijk to see how hard it is to keep a player amid reported interest from Liverpool. However, West Ham have shown this summer that they want to move away from the Premier League’s mid-table positions and this deal will only add further to their intentions.

In other West Ham  news, the Hammers have given an emphatic response to a London club’s bid for this 30-year-old.
