Insider issues Tyler Adams injury claim after Leeds United training ground update
Leeds United should not be overly concerned about the calf injury Tyler Adams picked up during the World Cup.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.
Adams skippered the USA at the World Cup in Qatar but picked up an injury during the 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands in their round of 16 tie earlier this month (3 December).
The 23-year-old has not featured in any of Leeds’ mid-season friendlies and is yet to return to training.
As quoted by Leeds Live earlier this week (20 December), he insisted he “felt sharp” but Jesse Marsch was giving him as much time as possible to recover.
He will miss the visit of Man City next week (28 December) after picking up a red card following two yellow cards in Leeds’ 4-3 defeat to Tottenham just prior to the break.
“With Tyler Adams suspended for that game with Man City the need for him to be fully integrated is not as serious,” Dinnery told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s one of Jesse Marsch’s signings so he’s a player that he will trust implicitly and know inside out.
“With decisions in regards to returning to train post-tournament, you can leave that in the hands of the players because these are professionals who know their craft.
“He must like him and understand his work ethic if they’ve been together for a number of years.
“I would not be worried about that.”

Adams moved to Leeds in the summer for a £20million fee from RB Leipzig where he also worked under Marsch.
The Whites manager also gave the midfielder his professional debut at New York Red Bulls in July 2015.
In other news, a club is in advanced talks to hire a Leeds United man.
