Insider lambasts Crystal Palace after ‘disgraceful’ Tottenham move
Crystal Palace’s efforts to call off their game against Tottenham on Boxing Day were “disgraceful”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Christmas Day, Football.London journalist Mark Wyatt reported Boxing Day’s game between Tottenham and Palace was “off” after positive Covid results in the Palace camp.
However, the game went ahead and the Eagles only made one change from their previous Premier League game.
Wenham claims the club briefed Wyatt in an effort to get the game postponed in a move he branded “disgraceful”.
“That was a disgrace from Palace,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I thought that was awful. I don’t blame the journalist from Football.London.
“He was clearly briefed by the club in a bid to put pressure on the Premier League.
“If you get enough people saying the game is off, that makes it an issue for the league.
“Palace hadn’t got permission from the Premier League to call the game off when this information was coming through at 8pm on Christmas Day.
“It was awful and there was only 40,000 at the game yesterday. You have to think some of that is down to the tweet that categorically said the game would not be played.
“I’ve got to be honest, the way Palace conducted themselves was poor.

“But when the lineup came out and it was Benteke, the Eagle and the cheerleaders who were missing, it was really, really poor.
“Amatuer hour from them. It was almost their strongest team. I thought the whole thing was disgraceful.”
