Insider makes bold claim about Winks potentially quitting Tottenham in January

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte “clearly sees something” in Harry Winks after he turned in an impressive performance in his side’s draw with Liverpool.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Winks, 25, played 90 minutes for the second time under Conte as Spurs drew 2-2 with Liverpool on Sunday (19 December).

This was only his fifth Premier League outing of the season.

Wenham claims Winks could make himself a key part of Conte’s plans, similarly to how Ben Davies has found a new lease of life since the Italian’s appointment.

“Harry Winks was brilliant yesterday,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I thought he really stood up in the absence of Oliver Skipp.

“I think it was great to see him crashing into tackles and putting his stamp on the game.

“It was a very impressive performance. For me, Wink was always at the far end of players who might go in January.

“Winks also started against Leeds under Conte, so Conte clearly sees something in him.

“He can be another player who Conte can simply improve, we have already seen it with Ben Davies.

“There is no reason the same can’t happen for Winks. I just wonder if he is someone who will stay on until the summer.

“Despite my initial disappointment at seeing that midfield three yesterday, I have to admit I was very impressed.”

Winks has made 10 total appearances this season.

He has one assist to his name.
