Insider makes 'massive' Tottenham claim about '£40m' Belotti signing in January after Italy update

Tottenham could “realistically” sign Andrea Belotti and a new number 10 in January.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Calciomercato reported on 31 October that Belotti, who is out of contract at the end of the season, will not sign a new deal with Torino.

Belotti has bagged 107 goals in 235 games for Torino and according to Tuttosport, the club were knocking back £40million bids during January 2020.

Wenham insists Tottenham could make a move for the striker as well as a number 10 in January.

“A lot of people think we should sign a second striker,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There is no doubting Belotti is someone we have been massively linked to in the past.

“I remember we were linked with a £40million move some years ago and he’s probably worth that. So to get him on a free would be a bargain.

“He’s a real Torino legend and is always one of the top scorers in a league that is notoriously hard to score in.

“On a free transfer, that’s someone I would love Tottenham to have a look at.

“Obviously, he would command fairly high wages but that’s something we can pay without a substantial transfer fee involved.

“I would kill for a proper number 10. If we get Belotti on the cheap it means we still have money to go and get that player.

“There are two deals I would love Tottenham to complete in January and ones you would say the club can realistically pull off.”
