Insider: This is when Lanzini should return for West Ham

By Danny Wright

West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini “should” return to action in time for his side’s clash with Tottenham next week, according to a club insider.

ExWHUemplyee, who is a reliable source of Hammers information, claimed on his personal Twitter account that Lanzini, 24, will be absent for Saturday’s trip to West Brom, but is in contention to return against Spurs in just over a weeks’ time.

West Ham face Bolton in the Carabao Cup between their two Premier League clashes with West Brom and Spurs, but Lanzini is also understood to be out of that match.

The two-times Argentina international has played just 45 minutes of football this season due to a knee injury.

He came off the bench at half-time in the 3-0 hammering at Newcastle, but was back on the sidelines earlier this week when Slaven Bilic’s men got their first win of the Premier League campaign against Huddersfield.

Lanzini is clearly one of the most technically gifted players at the London Stadium and his influence on the team has been clearly felt in the first month of this new season.

The former River Plate star, who was widely linked with a move away from East London in the summer, made 39 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring eight goals in the process.

In other West Ham news, Bilic has confirmed a major attacker boost ahead of Saturday’s visit to the Hawthorns.
