Insider ‘beyond surprised’ by Tottenham response pre- Leicester after Hotspur Way latest
Tottenham youth players were told to stay at home for just two days after the club were hit by a Covid outbreak.
That is according to “beyond surprised” Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On Monday (13 December), The Telegraph reported Tottenham have suffered a fresh Covid outbreak in their youth squads.
It was also reported there is a fresh case of the coronavirus in the first-team squad as well as what was described as a “large outbreak” among the Under 23s.
Wenham has explained what Tottenham’s youth players were told to do in the immediate aftermath of the club’s first outbreak.
“I thought the initial news would be significantly worse,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I was beyond surprised to see the Under 18s match against Leicester at Hotspur Way was going ahead.
“I thought that game would have been rescheduled. That came on the back of the Rennes thing as well.
“We’re claiming to have shut the training ground but we used it a few days later for that game.
“That gives them an edge in any kind of argument, hence my surprise.
“But there are lots of positives from that Leicester game, Devine played again after his injury.
“I understand the academy players were told to stay at home and train there for two days.
“Obviously that is very different to what the senior players were told.”

On Monday morning (13 December) Evening Standard journalist Dan Kilpatrick Tottenham will train with a depleted squad ahead of Thursday’s (16 December) game with Leicester.
The club had to miss thier last two games because of the outbreak.
