Insider: Scarlett has sent message to Nuno pre-Tottenham clash tonight against Vitesse

Dane Scarlett has sent Nuno Espirito Santo a clear message about his Tottenham playing time ahead of tonight’s European clash against Vitesse Arnhem.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Scarlett, 17, bagged a brace as England Under 19s lost to Belgium during the international break.

The attacker, previously described by Wenham as “outstanding”, has made just three senior appearances this season with all of them coming in the UEFA Conference League.

He was handed a start in last months clash against NS Mura but made way for Harry Kane, who proceeded to score a hattrick.

When asked if Scarlett has sent Nuno a message with his international double, Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild,“Yeah, He went away and continued to score.

“What has to be remembered is he is playing two years above his age group when he plays for England.

“He got those goals and that was him trying to stake a claim to start on Thursday.

“At the very least I expect he will be on the bench for that game but as I’ve said I expect we will go strong.

“I really hope he gets a chance if he is on the bench. Maybe if the game is won with half an hour to go or something.

“We all know he’s highly rated but he needs first-team game time.

“He was unlucky against Mura so I hope he gets the chance to put that right.”
