Insider: This is Tottenham's stance on signing Watkins as '£45m' plan revealed
Tottenham will not make a move for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this season.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
This comes as Harry Kane continues to struggle in the Premier League as he remains goalless after five outings.
He remains the only out and out striker in the senior squad though Heung-Min Son can deputise if required.
Wenham admits Tottenham wanted to sign Watkins before he joined Villa last summer but the player was put off by the idea of playing behind Kane.

“Ollie Watkins is a good player,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I know he is someone Tottenham have initially looked at him but Villa came in and paid the £30million.
“The club were not prepared to pay that for someone who would play backup to Kane.
“Watkins also had some reservations about coming here with Kane clearly ahead of him in the pecking order.
“I understand Tottenham have had that issue for a while. Now he’s at Villa, I don’t see Spurs going in for him.
“I expect Villa would ask for £45million, maybe a bit more. He’s a Premier League player now so they will demand more.
“I can’t see Tottenham making a bid for that specific player.”
Watkins has scored 14 goals in 41 appearances since leaving Brentford for Villa.
He was also handed his first England cap earlier this year.
