Insider: This is what Daniel Levy and Tottenham chiefs really think about Antonio Conte’s ‘outbursts’
Antonio Conte is frustrating Tottenham with his recent outbursts in post-match press conferences.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Speaking to Sky Sports (23 February), Conte questioned whether he was the right man to take Spurs forward following a 1-0 loss to Burnley.
This sparked speculation that Conte could quit the club in the coming days but he remains the Spurs boss and led his side to a 4-0 win over Leeds on Saturday (26 February).
However, Wenham was left less than impressed with the Italian’s outburst.
“I think we deserved a point against Burnley and Conte’s reaction made the result seem so much worse,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I just feel those quotes weren’t helpful. It’s rinse and repeat with him.
“He comes out with these quotes and then there is a press conference a day and a half later where all of a sudden he was taken out of context.
“It must be quite annoying for the club if I’m brutally honest. Their comms team are constantly having to put statements out.
“Of course, reporters are asking questions when Conte comes out with these outbursts.
“I think he needs to keep quiet on some things. Every time we lose it’s the same.
“It’s becoming an interesting situation where when we don’t win we get this big reaction from him.
“This whole thing is just something we could do without really.”
