Insider tips ‘massive boost’ for Tottenham v Leicester as Romero predicted for early return
John Wenham is “hopeful” Cristian Romero could return to the Tottenham bench for Wednesday night’s game against Leicester City.
Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, wants the defender to be in from the start against Chelsea on Sunday (23 January).
Romero has not featured for Spurs since 1 November after suffering a hamstring injury in Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Brazil on 16 November.

On 1 December journalist Jonathan Veal quoted Conte as saying the defender may not play again until February.
However, with the player now back in training, Wenham hopes Romero can give Spurs a “massive boost” by making the bench against Leicester tonight.
“Romero has been back in light training for a while,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m actually hopeful he is on the bench against Leicester tonight, then I want him starting at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“Our defence will instantly become a million miles better with him in the side.
“I can see him going to Stamford Bridge and completely pocketing Lukaku, I can’t wait to see him back in action.
“Obviously we are without Dier right now and the defence hasn’t looked the same recently.
“So I am hopeful Romero can be named on the bench tonight, that would be a massive boost for us.”

Romero signed for Spurs from Italian Serie A side Atalanta last summer and he has played 13 times since his arrival in North London.
His initial loan move will be made permanent in the summer.
In other news, a pundit has claimed Tottenham could seal ‘signing of the summer’ after Sky transfer update.
