Insider tips Tottenham to re-sign ‘unbelievable’ Eriksen after update in last 48 hours

Tottenham could sign Christian Eriksen at the end of the season if he impresses at Brentford.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On Sunday, Jay Harris of The Athletic reported Eriksen, 29, has agreed to join Brentford until the end of the season.

It was claimed the deal may take longer to go through due to the complexities around the midfielder’s health.

If Eriksen impresses with Brentford, Wenham hopes Tottenham can swoop in and re-sign him at the end of the season.

“All I ever say about Eriksen is that we have never replaced him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“We know he’s available now and if he’s able to sign for Brentford then he could have signed for us.

“Let’s look at it this way. He’s only going to be on a six month deal at Brentford.

“If it becomes clear over the first few months of him being there that he’s contributing already, I expect Tottenham will be making all the noise in the background to make an offer as soon as he’s available.

“He’s an unbelievable player, a very special player for us. To have him back anywhere near where he used to be for us that would be huge.

“He’s worked with Conte before as well so it’s something to keep an eye on.

“It all depends on how he does at Brentford.”
